Senior Metallurgist

About the Role

Provides technical support to the Mill Operations team in process control, optimization, targets, and laboratory. Leads and supports front-line employees in executing daily mining activities safely, efficiently, and to plan. Sets the tone for safety, teamwork, and performance while guiding, coaching, and supporting employees to achieve results in a positive, respectful workplace. Acts as the visible link between leadership intent and field execution, ensuring operational excellence through care, consistency, and communication.

Responsibilities

• Set operational targets, including short and long-range production budgeting, and develop plans to address deviations.
• Utilize the team and delegate work to ensure all process areas receive appropriate technical attention.
• Translate information and results from metallurgical test work into mill operating targets.
• Oversee, technically develop, and lead metallurgical technicians.
• Utilize knowledge of ore behavior to refine process control.
• Ensure the Process Control System is set up to optimally support process operations; recommend changes and improvements as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical or Mineral Processing Engineering or a related discipline (required).
• Five or more years of experience in metallurgical or mineral processing (preferred).
• Three to five years of supervisory experience (preferred).
• Demonstrated strong report writing skills (preferred).
• Experience with process controls development and optimization (advantageous).
• Operational experience with crushing, milling, flotation, and dewatering systems (required).
• Operational experience in a nickel or copper/nickel flotation concentrator (strongly preferred).

HSEC Accountabilities
