Senior MES Engineer (DeltaV Syncade)
About the Role
As an Execution Systems Lead Engineer, you will design, implement, and optimize Emerson DeltaV MES Syncade solutions that enable compliant, efficient, and scalable manufacturing operations within the Life Sciences industry. You will collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Automation, Validation, and IT stakeholders to enhance production execution, data integrity, and operational performance across global manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and optimize Emerson DeltaV MES Syncade solutions to support batch manufacturing, electronic batch records (EBRs), and manufacturing execution processes.
- Develop and maintain MES workflows, recipes, electronic work instructions, and process models that improve consistency, compliance, and right-first-time execution.
- Provide production support by troubleshooting system issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate operational, quality, and regulatory requirements into scalable MES solutions.
- Support system integrations between MES platforms, automation systems, control systems, manufacturing data platforms, and enterprise applications.
- Lead or support testing, validation, deployment, upgrade, and lifecycle management activities to ensure reliable and compliant system performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing traceability, process efficiency, data integrity, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Mentor team members and contribute to best practices, delivery standards, and reusable assets that enhance project quality and execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience implementing and supporting Emerson DeltaV MES Syncade in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Strong experience configuring MES workflows, recipes, electronic batch records (EBRs), and electronic work instructions.
- Deep understanding of manufacturing execution systems, including material management, equipment management, work order execution, manufacturing process control, and batch execution.
- Experience translating business, manufacturing, and regulatory requirements into scalable MES solutions.
- Knowledge of MES integration patterns involving automation systems, control systems, manufacturing data platforms, and enterprise applications.
- Proven experience supporting production environments through incident management, root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and system optimization.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across globally distributed teams.
- Experience working within regulated environments governed by GMP, cGMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, CSV, electronic records and signatures, data integrity, and validation standards.

- Experience leveraging manufacturing performance analytics to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Exposure to cloud-based manufacturing technologies and modern digital transformation programs.
- Prior experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers, or serving as a technical SME on MES initiatives.
Work Model
This is a remote position open to qualified applicants in the United States. Occasional travel may be required for client meetings, workshops, project activities, and business-critical needs.
Pay
The annual salary for this position is between $88,000 - $150,000 depending on experience and other qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
