Senior MEP Coordinator
Our client, an established construction firm with decades of experience building high-profile projects in the Palo Alto area, is seeking a Senior MEP Coordinator to join their PMO office. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of large, high-profile projects that impact the community, including a new replacement hospital and central plant.
About the role
The Senior MEP Coordinator reports to the Director of Mechanical and Electrical Services or other assigned supervisor. This position involves coordinating with design consultants and key sub-contractors to select the best equipment for the project, build it virtually and physically, and lead a robust commissioning effort. Familiarity with software tools such as Revizto, vPlanner, Procore, and Primavera is essential.
Responsibilities
- Review, interpret, and accurately evaluate the scope of work in project documents.
- Evaluate schedules and plans to determine material procurement and installation timelines.
- Provide updated procurement information weekly to the project scheduler.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets for material, installation, and procurement logs on a weekly basis.
- Facilitate 3D CAD coordination meetings, ensuring timely and efficient processing of information to meet the schedule.
- Enter RFIs into Procore and track progress.
- Prepare submittal packages for submission to the architect/engineer.
- Prepare transmittals through Procore.
- Evaluate changes and subcontractor change order estimates related to mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression work.
- Verify change order requests from subcontractors for accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain a working knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression codes, life safety codes, and local requirements.
- Conduct daily job walks to ensure accuracy and quality of mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression system installations.
- Follow and enforce the company QA/QC program for mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems.
- Demonstrate technical knowledge of the construction industry and cost-estimating methods.
- Apply knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the construction field.
- Develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor relationships.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Construction Management) or technical training is preferred. A combination of education and work experience will also be considered.
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience in the field or a related area.
- Strong written and oral communication and team skills.
- Ability to work independently, receive work direction, and quickly learn and apply new skills.
- Must be dependable, consistent, diligent, and thorough.
- Creative and resourceful in completing tasks accurately within compressed timeframes.
- Intermediate knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.
- Intermediate skill level with MS Excel 2000 and MS Word 2000.
- Intermediate skill with Procore and MS Outlook.
Pay
Salary range: $150,000 – $200,000 plus a 5% target bonus, vehicle, and fuel card.
