Senior Memory Systems Design Engineer

About the Role

Sandisk is seeking an experienced engineer to drive system design and firmware feature development for enterprise SSD products. The role involves leveraging deep knowledge of NAND operation and test modes to enhance performance, endurance, and power efficiency. You will engage in system and component-level testing and validation, contribute to cross-functional integration efforts, and support failure analysis at both component and drive levels. Additionally, you will review product specifications, propose cost-effective and performance-competitive NAND memory solutions, and generate detailed reports with clear, justified conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware features for enterprise SSD products with a focus on NAND operation and test modes to improve performance, endurance, and power.
• Conduct system and component-level testing and validation on test platforms, including drive-level testing.
• Contribute to integration efforts with cross-functional teams (PETE, device, design).
• Support component and drive-level failure analysis (FA) efforts.
• Review product specifications and recommend NAND memory solutions that balance cost and performance.
• Generate comprehensive reports with bold, justified conclusions.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering; Master’s or PhD preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant experience for BS holders; 2+ years for Master’s/PhD holders in one or more of the following areas:
  • 3D NAND device/design
  • SSD testing
  • NAND/SSD Failure Analysis
• Proficiency in one or more of the following languages:
  • Python or C++
  • Bash scripting
• Preferred: NAND device/design experience.
• Knowledge of hardware design and validation is a plus.

The salary range for this role is based on factors such as relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, internal and external equity, and business needs. The range provided applies to jobs performed in California, Colorado, New York, or remote roles that can be performed in these states. Specific pay within this range will be determined at the time of offer.
