The Role
We are seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff responsible for two key areas: advancing Blitzy into untested production-grade open source work and evaluating engineers to push the platform further. Your work will directly inform product decisions and drive continuous improvement.
What You’ll Own
Pushing the platform frontier by selecting and building production-grade open source projects using Blitzy's autonomous development platform. Documenting genuine capability limits, failure modes, and missing capabilities.
Shipping open source work that demonstrates what autonomous development can produce at the frontier, ensuring it meets the highest standards of correctness, reliability, and operational durability.
Technical Evaluation
Evaluating Principal, Staff, and engineering candidates with depth, assessing their ability to reason about distributed systems under failure conditions.
Assessing candidates across the full stack, including backend systems, distributed infrastructure, data architecture, LLM/AI systems, and system design under real constraints.
Producing structured, specific hiring feedback that makes the decision obvious and actionable.
Defining and evolving the technical bar for engineering hires as the platform grows in scope and complexity.
What Success Looks Like
Ships non-trivial open source software with Blitzy and provides a precise account of what autonomous development enabled and where it required workarounds.
The platform feedback you produce drives product changes, acting on specific insights immediately.
Hiring assessments are sought out due to their accuracy and traceable reasoning.
Defines your own work, structures it, and executes without needing direction; the output speaks for itself.
We’re Looking For
Primary language: Python; supporting languages: Node.js and JavaScript
Microservices architecture; production experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure
Kubernetes at a production level, debugging production failures
Terraform; infrastructure as code as a discipline, not a convenience
SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL), NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB), and graph/vector databases
LLM-powered systems in production, including handling unexpected behavior at scale
LLM validation loops: evaluation pipelines, regression testing, failure analysis, built and operated
LangSmith or equivalent for finding real bugs
Full-stack experience, making architectural decisions and debugging across the stack end-to-end
Experience designing, integrating, and operating large-scale enterprise systems, including long-term maintenance tradeoffs
