Senior Meeting and Special Event Manager

About the Role
Plans and executes meetings and special events. Assists in the implementation of departmental strategies. Responsible for the seamless execution of all property events, with a focus on turnover from sales to operations and back to sales where appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Research and analyze new products, pricing, and services of competition.
- Apprise property of all groups that will impact property operations.
- Execute event management strategy aligned with the company’s business strategy.
- Conduct daily walk-throughs of the banquet floor to ensure client satisfaction and quality standards.
- Develop working relationships with outside vendors and establish prices and service agreements to enhance the event experience and increase additional revenue opportunities.
- Create opportunities to upsell during event planning.
- Manage department controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
- Create an atmosphere in all event management operations areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations.
- Set a positive example for guest relations and interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
- Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints.
- Empower employees to provide excellent customer service and ensure they understand expectations and parameters.
- Strive to improve service performance and emphasize guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings.
- Communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures, ensuring staff are trained in safety procedures.
- Observe service behaviors of employees and provide feedback to individuals.
- Monitor progress and lead discussions with staff each period.
- Participate in the development and implementation of corrective action plans.
- Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings.
- Review staffing levels to ensure guest service and operational needs are met.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; 3 years of experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or a related professional area.
- OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major; 2 years of experience in event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or a related professional area.
Pay
Pay Range: $77,000 - $99,000 annually | Bonus eligible
