About the role

The Regional Medical Science Director (also referred to as MSL) is a field-based scientific expert who strategically supports the scientific and business objectives of cancer therapeutic areas across the product life cycle. MSLs are the primary communicators of Summit Therapeutics science within a specific geography to healthcare professionals, serving as field scientific experts on Immuno-Oncology and treatment options. They combine strong business acumen, clinical expertise, and market awareness to act as a conduit of information internally and externally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and maintain high-impact territory plans, including HCP and Investigator engagement plans aligned with therapeutic area medical and scientific objectives.
  • Support clinical development and research initiatives at the request of R&D, including site evaluation and identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, and involving experts to generate scientific data such as investigator-sponsored trials.
  • Identify, gain access to, and develop professional, customer-centric relationships with external experts in Immuno-Oncology within the assigned geography.
  • Provide education on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and Summit Therapeutics products across the product lifecycle to healthcare providers and researchers.
  • Participate in, monitor, and provide insights from relevant scientific meetings in the assigned geography.
  • Maintain self-education on market issues, product knowledge, and new therapeutic areas to create awareness and relationships for Summit Therapeutics in the medical community.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, organizational activities, and country-driven medical affairs activities (e.g., advisory boards, Masterclasses, Round-tables).
  • Create, maintain, and collaborate in cross-functional partnerships to develop and execute account plans supporting shared scientific or business objectives.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in the health sciences from an accredited university required (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent). Significant clinical and/or industry experience in oncology may be accepted in lieu of education requirements.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of solid tumor cancer experience.
  • 5+ years of clinical, scientific/research, or industry-related experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 2+ years as a Medical Science Liaison required.
  • Previous pharmaceutical industry experience within a relevant scientific discipline preferred.
  • Must meet healthcare industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements, which may include background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization/vaccination.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.

Pay

$200,000 - $235,000 USD. Actual compensation is based on factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and work location. The total compensation package may also include bonus, stock, benefits, and/or other variable compensation.
