About the role
Sentara CarePlex Hospital is hiring an experienced Sr. Laboratory Scientist to work full days in Transfusion. A sign-on bonus up to $20,000 is available for qualified candidates.
Responsibilities include performing laboratory testing, interpreting results using scientific knowledge, recommending contingency testing, and overseeing daily technical operations. The role involves staff training and education, implementation of instrumentation, and ensuring accreditation readiness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or Biology/Chemical Science (required)
- ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification (required)
- 3 years of laboratory experience (required)
- Transfusion experience

About the facility
Sentara CarePlex Hospital, located in Hampton, VA, is a 224-bed technologically advanced, acute-care facility and Certified Primary Stroke Center. Specialized services include heart and vascular care, urologic care, advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities, a hospitalist program, and one of the state’s busiest emergency departments. The hospital also houses the Orthopedic Hospital at Sentara CarePlex, the area’s first dedicated orthopedic hospital.
