About the role

The Senior Medical Director Multiple Myeloma will be a member of the Global Medical Affairs team, leading the conduct of a global clinical study using the portfolio of compounds at J&J with the aim of building curative regimens for patients with multiple myeloma. The role requires a high-performing and energetic individual who demonstrates outstanding scientific knowledge applicable to hematology clinical research and the highest personal and ethical standards.

This position is based in Bridgewater/Raritan, NJ, though remote work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

• Lead a global medical affairs worldwide study under the guidance of the Head of Myeloma and Plasma Cell Disorders, Global Medical Affairs.
• Work closely with senior R&D Clinical Leaders of myeloma asset teams to advance the science and development of myeloma compounds toward a cure.
• Serve as a standing member of the Global Medical Affairs Leadership team and an ad hoc member of myeloma clinical teams.
• Lead the development of protocol writing and operational execution of new multiple myeloma clinical studies.
• Engage externally with myeloma experts to support scientific advocacy and community engagement.
• Participate in the interpretation and reporting of research results, including interactions with health authorities.
• Evaluate scientific information and new ideas to identify new research opportunities.
• Support clinically related medical affairs activities across the myeloma portfolio in pursuit of curative regimens.
• Assess external clinical research proposals involving company products and manuscripts prepared for publication.
• Act as a liaison between the company and clinical investigators.
• Lead the internal study working group for the global study, collaborating with R&D and regional Medical Affairs colleagues.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in medicine (i.e., M.D. or equivalent).
• Trained Hematologist or Oncologist, or substantial experience in conducting hematology clinical studies.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a clinical research position in an academically-based research institute or within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Knowledge of basic and clinical cancer or hematology research and its application to drug development.
• Experience specifically in multiple myeloma and working with myeloma experts in the medical community is highly desired.
• Strong oral, written, and presentation skills, including report development.
• Experience working in a matrix team environment and leading cross-functional study teams.
• Strong commitment to hematology/oncology clinical research and ability to work well within a team setting.
• Up to 20% annual travel (international and domestic).

Pay

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $164,000.00 - $282,900.00.
