Location: Rochester, NY

Salary: $60,974 – $83,544 annually

Description of Duties

• Develop and implement projects that provide non‑clinical medical social work services to residents in a health‑care facility and their families.
• Determine the scope of social work services needed to help patients adjust to their medical conditions and environment while following prescribed guidelines.
• Provide daily guidance to Medical Caseworkers, especially on sensitive or complex case issues.
• Serve as primary coverage in the absence of the Medical Social Work Manager.
• Assist with administrative duties, including conducting competency assessments, ensuring employee completion of in‑service training, and maintaining adherence to New York State Department of Health requirements.
• Perform quality‑assurance activities.
• Perform related work as required.
• Note: Psychotherapy is not an aspect of this position.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma plus one of the following:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or another behavioral‑science field (excluding Criminal Justice and Anthropology) from a regionally accredited or New York State‑registered college/university, and at least one (1) year of paid full‑time (or part‑time equivalent) experience performing social work or casework in the medical field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or another behavioral‑science field (excluding Criminal Justice and Anthropology) from a regionally accredited or New York State‑registered college/university, and at least three (3) years of paid full‑time (or part‑time equivalent) experience performing social work or casework, with at least one (1) year in the medical field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the limits of the two options above.
• Behavioral‑science fields include, but are not limited to, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Gerontology, Human Behavior, Social Welfare, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
