About the role

The Case Manager manages the regulatory process for assigned cases of low to medium complexity, ensuring compliance with requirements from regulatory directives. This role involves collaborating with internal subject matter experts to develop case materials, including policy and quantitative analysis to support PG&E’s desired outcomes. The Case Manager acts as the project lead for cases, ensuring key milestones and deliverables are met, and communicates case status, strategy, and key issues to PG&E management, CPUC staff, and stakeholders. This position also supports process improvement, special projects, and may serve as an expert witness as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes regulatory strategy for assigned proceedings to align with PG&E’s goals and objectives.
  • Manages multiple regulatory proceedings across various functional teams with demanding time constraints to ensure accurate, complete, and timely submission.
  • Identifies key subject matter experts, forms the case team, develops schedules for milestones and deliverables, manages issues, and leads the development of key case materials to support PG&E’s positions.
  • Project manages the development of comments, testimony, work papers, discovery responses, settlement documents, and communications materials with subject matter experts or case witnesses.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and summarizes external parties’ testimony or comments, including policy and quantitative analysis, discovery, and other case materials.
  • Assists in developing cost recovery proposals, tariff changes, accounting mechanisms, advice letters, and other proposals for submission within regulatory proceedings.
  • Communicates case status, updates, or information to PG&E management, CPUC staff, and internal/external stakeholders, including preparation of strategic briefing materials, summaries, communications, and recommendations.
  • Builds broad knowledge of subject matter, case filings, and other relevant proceedings, identifies key policy issues, and provides insight into implications of case developments on the company and proceeding objectives.
  • Makes recommendations on courses of action relating to comments and proposed decisions and informs changes to case strategy based on analysis, case developments, or internal decisions.
  • Identifies, documents, assigns, and tracks compliance requirements in consultation with functional areas and attorneys, and consults the CPUC as needed to ensure compliance and proper implementation.
  • Develops advocacy and outreach plans to build relationships and collaborate externally with stakeholders to further the company’s objectives and garner support for internal goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience.
  • 5 years of relevant experience.

Skills

  • Ability to review and analyze complex regulatory documents and understand implications for the company.
  • Knowledge and understanding of PG&E and the utility industry’s (gas/electric) operations, pricing, accounting, and customer service issues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of revenue requirements, cost recovery, and policy development.
  • Experience in project management and understanding of case management processes, procedures, and practices.
  • Advocacy, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook.

Pay

A reasonable salary range for this role in the Bay Area is $102,000 – $152,000. The actual salary will be based on factors such as skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. This position is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

Schedule

Hybrid role requiring work from a remote office and the Oakland General Office once per week, based on business needs.
