About the role
This position is responsible for ensuring the facility operates efficiently under the direction of the facility leader. Senior Medical Assistants will work within the healthcare team to deliver optimal patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Room patients and track/test results
- Coordinate patient education and close care gaps
- Provide education to other medical assistants on workflow, processes, and point-of-care testing
- Assist providers with back-office duties such as escorting patients, taking vital signs, maintaining exam room stock, documenting communications, preparing lab specimens, scheduling tests, and filing patient charts
- Administer treatments and medications according to provider orders
- Maintain compliance with medical group standards for care delivery and quality
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other departments, entities, physicians, and outside agencies
- Absorb and accurately collect demographic, clinical, and financial information from patients
- Deal with immediate employee issues when appropriate
- Provide patient care
Requirements
- Graduation from Medical Assistant school preferred
- 2 years of experience in a clinical health care position with at least 1 year as a medical assistant
- Current State of Nevada license for Office Laboratory Assistant or Certified Laboratory Assistant or application must be submitted within 90 days of employment
- Current AHA BLS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
- One of the following certifications preferred: CCMA, CMAC, CMA, NRCMA, RMA, NREMT, EMT certification
- Computer skills necessary to complete online learning requirements, access online forms and policies, and complete online benefits enrollment
