Senior Medical Assistant Certified- Neurosurgery (Medical Center)

About the role

The Senior Medical Assistant Certified- Neurosurgery position at Houston Methodist is responsible for providing comprehensive support to neurosurgical patients. This role requires a minimum of five years of medical assistant experience with a focus on chronic disease management or a specialty discipline.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for exams and treatments, ensuring all necessary paperwork and preparations are completed.
• Assists with diagnostic procedures, including but not limited to EKGs, rapid strep tests, and urinalysis.
• Ensures patient safety and comfort throughout the examination and treatment process.
• Collaborates with the interprofessional health care team to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Coordinates patient care with other departments and external providers as needed.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment, ensuring proper sterilization and maintenance of medical equipment.
• Supports the department's efforts to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, NHA, or Registered Medical Assistant.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA).
• CPT - Certified Phlebotomy Technician (ACA).
