About the Role

The Senior Medical Affairs Manager serves as an integrated partner in strategic business decisions and a scientific thought leader for the dietary supplement and consumer care portfolio. This role partners cross-functionally to guide claims development, evidence generation, external engagement, and scientific communication while connecting scientific strategy to business priorities. The Senior Manager leads a team of Medical Affairs professionals, drives strategic alignment across platforms, and serves as an external scientific ambassador for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Scientific and Medical Leadership:
    • Serve as a scientific thought leader and integral business partner by providing scientific expertise to inform strategy, innovation, and marketplace differentiation.
    • Integrate scientific and nutrition insights to inform commercial strategy, product lifecycle decisions, and concept development for VMHS/consumer care platforms.
    • Lead scientific strategy for assigned platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals and market expectations.
    • Partner in the innovation and renovation (I&R) process, translating scientific opportunities to meet consumer, patient, customer, and healthcare professional (HCP) expectations.
  • Evidence Evaluation, Claims Substantiation & Scientific Communication:
    • Guide the team in developing compelling and compliant scientific content.
    • Evaluate evidence and translate science to substantiate product and platform claims.
    • Write, review, and approve medical and scientific content, including claims dossiers, scientific narratives, internal training tools, and external consumer/customer education.
    • Partner with Marketing, Innovation/Renovation, Regulatory, and other cross-functional teams to drive innovation, strengthen claims, and optimize the product portfolio.
    • Ensure scientific accuracy across all product communications and contribute to product development, renovation, and regulatory submissions.
  • External Engagement:
    • Liaise with industry professional societies, trade organizations, suppliers, and customer partners to drive business strategy.
    • Collaborate with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, academic experts, and scientific societies to advance science, education, and awareness (e.g., webinars, symposia, advisory boards).
    • Identify emerging scientific, clinical, and market trends to inform product development and commercialization.
    • Shape protocols, pathways, and guidelines through education and research.
  • Evidence Generation:
    • Assess, guide, and ensure the delivery of evidence to support Nestlé assets.
    • Participate with cross-functional business partners to identify evidence generation needs and prioritize opportunities that advance science and competitive differentiation.
    • Assess evidence gaps and identify the need for evidence generation to support claims, efficacy, and meet consumer and HCP expectations.
    • Lead evidence projects (e.g., real-world evidence [RWE], clinical trials, literature reviews, meta-analyses), scientific publications, and medical communications.
  • People Management:
    • Lead, coach, and develop VMHS Medical Affairs Managers to strengthen scientific capabilities, communication, and leadership skills.
    • Identify team metrics, assess effectiveness, and support professional development plans to enable organizational improvement.
    • Partner with key stakeholders and HR Business Partners to identify and prioritize learning needs, support talent development, and build a high-performing collaborative team culture.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD with expertise in nutritional science and/or related field (biochemistry, physiology, biology).
  • Professional credential in nutrition or clinical-related field preferred (RD, RN, RPh, MD, etc.).
  • 8+ years of experience in nutritional, medical, or scientific affairs or a combination of academic and industry experience, with demonstrated scientific leadership and external engagement experience.
  • Dietary supplement industry experience with a focus on claims substantiation and commercialization of products based on evidence.
  • Strong scientific background and proven ability to translate science for consumer, customer, and HCP communications.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting scientific information in external forums and internal executive settings.
  • Experience managing people and teams.

Pay

The approximate pay range for this position is $170,000.00 to $190,000.00. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
