About the role
This is a temporary, full-time onsite position based in Indianola, PA, with an estimated duration of 9 months. The Senior Mechanical Test Technician supports testing from concept through Verification and Validation (V&V), with a strong emphasis on Risk Reduction Testing (RRT) and V&V testing. This role requires proficiency in a broad set of analytical and technical tools within the mechanical discipline, along with the ability to function effectively in a second technical discipline to enhance cross-functional collaboration. The technician may take a lead role in selected technical activities, guide other designers and technicians, and collaborate with supervisors, engineers, vendors, and suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Proficiently apply a broad set of analytical and technical tools within a single technical discipline (Mechanical, QA, V&V, etc.), with a strong emphasis on Risk Reduction Testing (RRT) and Verification and Validation (V&V) testing
- Possess the technical skills and knowledge to function effectively in a second technical discipline, enhancing cross-functional collaboration and project outcomes
- Proactively seek assignments and work to identify breadth of tasks
- Take a lead role in selected technical activities as needed
- Apply analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical problems within the primary technical discipline, including the application of Instron testing
- Handle multiple concurrent projects, understand priorities of assigned tasks, and plan daily activities accordingly
- Develop creative solutions to challenging problems, ensuring compliance with protocols
- Guide designers and technicians, including training, mentoring, or coaching
- Collaborate with a broad group of cross-functional staff
- Provide input and participate in recruiting and selecting teams
- Support testing from concept to V&V and beyond as necessary
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Associate's degree or 2-year trade/military school (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of designing and drafting experience (preferred)
- Possesses the analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical problems within a single technical discipline (required)
- Handles multiple concurrent projects, understands priorities of assigned tasks, and plans daily activities accordingly (required)
- Develops creative solutions to challenging problems (required)
Required Experience
- Hands-on mechanical test experience: 7 years
- Expertise with Instron or comparable universal/materials testing systems: 5 years
- Experience managing multiple concurrent engineering projects/test programs: 5 years
Pay
Hourly rate: $30.00 – $38.00
