Senior Mechanical Project Manager

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing project(s) and project teams while cultivating alignment of goals across the entire team.
  • Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships, creating a clearly defined repeat-client base and supporting future work procurement opportunities.
  • Analyze and review General Contractor (GC) project schedules and develop detailed HVAC project schedules.
  • Lead project teams through sound decision-making processes.
  • Provide leadership to the entire project team, including identifying and delegating team member responsibilities.
  • Apply established policies and procedures while taking ownership of project decisions and issues.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects.
  • Manage design coordination, trade contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Develop and implement procedures and strategies that drive continuous improvement in project team performance and project outcomes.
  • Consistently provide customers with accurate and timely project status updates.
  • Support field labor operations and project execution.
  • Procure equipment and subcontractors, including scope development and buyout activities.
  • Prepare and manage budget analysis reports, cost and revenue projections, change orders, construction plans, and related project documentation.
  • Effectively identify, mitigate, and resolve cost-related issues.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for project team members.
  • Motivate, mentor, and develop project team members.
  • Negotiate and manage contract changes.
  • Understand and manage the prefabrication process for assigned projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and/or projects valued at more than $5 million.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively plan projects and improve gross margins.
  • Ability to lead preconstruction activities.
  • Ability to perform value engineering analyses.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering systems.
  • Ability to estimate projects in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Strong communication skills with all levels of management.
  • Able to present proposals and deliver sales presentations.
  • Able to effectively manage project team resources.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC mechanical building systems.
  • Able to oversee and manage the billing process.
  • Able to read and interpret technical documentation, including CAD drawings, blueprints, submittals, and specifications.
  • Proficiency with: Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software, QuoteSoft estimating software.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 5-10 years of relevant project management experience.
  • Experience managing Design-Build projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work at a computer using a keyboard and mouse for extended periods.
  • Ability to visit construction sites and navigate active work areas safely.
  • Ability to climb stairs and maneuver around piping, ductwork, construction materials, and equipment.
