Senior Mechanical Power Engineer
About the role
The power generation market is growing and evolving due to strong capacity demand signals. HDR's national Power Generation team is poised for significant growth and is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the development, contracting, and implementation of natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects.
Responsibilities
- Leadership of the project mechanical team
- Coordination with other engineering disciplines
- Monitoring and communication of project status
- Providing mechanical engineering support for detailed design and owner’s engineer projects on both a technical and contractual level
Requirements
- Significant experience with utility-scale power generation systems and equipment
- Proven ability to plan, schedule, and lead design projects
- Experience with simple cycle, combined cycle, distributed generation, and RICE projects
- Experienced in project execution within the Power Market Sector
- Extensive experience in project management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard Power Market Sector design software
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university
- Minimum 15 years of experience in power generation design
- BS degree in Engineering
- Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the fossil power industry with a blend of design and owner’s engineer projects
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- Able to mentor less experienced engineers and EITs
- Proficient at working within an established schedule and budget

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. The targeted salary range for this position (based on experience and location) is $108,661 - $204,250.

This position is full-time and regular.
