Responsibilities
- Serves as the senior technical contributor and project leader, responsible for the design, development, and optimization of complex mechanical systems.
- Led cross-functional efforts to translate customer requirements into robust, manufacturable, and scalable solutions while ensuring alignment with cost, quality, and performance objectives.
- Owns design-to-manufacturability and product lifecycle outcomes across assigned projects, leveraging advanced CAD, simulation, PDM, and ERP tools.
- Provides technical leadership, drives problem-solving, and continuous improvement, and mentor’s engineers to strengthen engineering capability and standards.
- Leads the creation and approval of complex engineering documentation including models, drawings, bills of materials, and quotes using CAD systems, PDM, and ERP software.
- Serves as technical lead on assigned projects, ensuring delivery of scope, schedule, cost, quality, and customer requirements.
- Drives design reviews, risk assessments, and cross-functional alignment for new and existing products.
- Translates customer requirements into manufacturable, reliable, and scalable engineering solutions.
- Owns and governs Bill of Material (BOM) structure and product configurations, ensuring accuracy, change control, and lifecycle management.
- Leads root cause analysis and corrective actions for product, process, and field performance issues, driving continuous improvement in design, manufacturability, safety, cost, and quality.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in mechanical and/or manufacturing engineering, including demonstrated leadership of complex projects or product lines.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college in Engineering or a closely related field required. Master’s degree in Engineering or Business (MBA) preferred.
- Advanced SolidWorks certifications (CSWP, CSWE, CPPA, or equivalent), preferred.
- Engineering in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering (PE), preferred.
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills, including advanced root cause analysis and data-driven decision making.
- Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, DFM).
- Demonstrated ability to define, document, and govern manufacturing processes, inspection plans, and validation protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and technically develop engineers and shop-floor team members.
- Strong knowledge of electronic components and electronic assemblies as they interface with mechanical systems.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership and customers.
- Proven capability to influence without authority and lead through technical expertise.
- Experience operating in or deploying ISO9001 or equivalent quality systems.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds, on occasion up to 50 pounds.
