Senior Mechanical Estimator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator with strong experience in mechanical piping, plumbing, and large-scale commercial/industrial construction. The ideal candidate will have a proven background preparing complete estimates for $10M+ mechanical and plumbing projects and experience with Hard Bid, Design-Build, and Design-Assist projects. This role will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and internal construction teams to develop accurate and competitive project estimates.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete mechanical and plumbing estimates for projects valued at $10M+.
• Estimate mechanical piping, plumbing, and heavy mechanical construction scopes.
• Prepare estimates for Hard Bid, Design-Build, and Design-Assist projects.
• Develop estimates from schematic design documents, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Perform detailed material takeoffs and quantity calculations.
• Prepare comparative estimates for different design alternatives.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
• Develop subcontractor scopes and support subcontract negotiations and buyout activities.
• Review drawings, specifications, front-end documents, and contract requirements.
• Prepare purchase orders and support project cost controls.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators.

Requirements

• Significant experience as a Mechanical Estimator / Senior Mechanical Estimator in construction.
• Strong experience estimating Mechanical Piping and Plumbing projects.
• Experience with large-scale construction projects valued at $10M or more.
• Proven Hard Bid estimating experience.
• Experience with Design-Build and/or Design-Assist estimating.
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
• Experience with subcontractor/vendor pricing, negotiations, and buyout.
• Strong material takeoff and estimating skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
