About the role
At Anduril, our Mechanical Engineers, Subsystem Integration and Test Engineers are at the forefront of defense technology, meticulously crafting high-impact, cutting-edge validated physical systems that redefine innovation. You'll dive into a diverse range of projects, partnering with brilliant minds across disciplines to engineer robust mechanical integration processes and comprehensive test methodologies that empower our mission-critical operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead Mechanical Design, Integration & Assembly: Oversee and execute the design and physical integration of complex mechanical subsystems, electromechanical assemblies, and components into larger system architectures, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and functionality.
- Design & Execute Test Campaigns: Develop detailed mechanical test plans, procedures, and custom fixtures for functional, performance, environmental (e.g., thermal, vibration, shock), and qualification testing, then conduct these tests and collect critical data.
- Analyze Data & Troubleshoot Issues: Analyze test data to identify anomalies, perform root cause analysis for mechanical failures or performance deviations, and work collaboratively with design engineers to implement effective solutions.
- Cross-Functional Verification: Collaborate intensely with Electrical, Systems, Software, and Manufacturing teams to define interfaces, verify system-level performance, ensure testability, and provide critical feedback for design improvements.
- Document & Refine Processes: Generate comprehensive test reports, assembly instructions, and engineering change requests; continuously refine integration and test methodologies to enhance efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability (DFA).
Required Qualifications
- Educational Foundation & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, coupled with 10+ years of direct, hands-on experience in mechanical integration, assembly, and testing of complex hardware systems.
- Hands-on Testing & Lab Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to set up, operate, and collect data from various mechanical test equipment (e.g., shakers, thermal chambers, data acquisition systems, load cells, accelerometers) and perform precise measurements.
- Problem-Solving & Root Cause Analysis: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electromechanical issues, conduct thorough root cause analysis, and drive effective solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Documentation & CAD Familiarity: Experience creating detailed assembly instructions, test procedures, and comprehensive reports, along with familiarity reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and CAD models.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills and a track record of successfully collaborating with diverse engineering teams (design, electrical, software, systems) to achieve integrated system validation.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
