Senior Mechanical Engineer, Space

About the role

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company focused on transforming military capabilities through advanced technology. The Space team is dedicated to enhancing Space Domain Awareness, Space Control, and Command and Control for U.S. military and allied partners.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware design from concept generation to launch, pacing design maturity holistically.
• Use first principles for decisions, simplifying designs continuously.
• Communicate pros/cons of system architecture with respect to design and packaging considerations, focusing on robust architecture.
• Lead subsystem design reviews, present status to team, and define/test plans.
• Act as Responsible Engineer for subsystem, running analyses, visiting vendors, defining and executing test plans.
• Create prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful designs to flight hardware and low-rate production.
• Travel to test sites and vendors as needed.
• Create excellent technical documentation, including slide packages, test plans, reports, procedures, assembly instructions, part drawings, vendor specs, and statements of work.

Requirements

• BS or higher degree in engineering or a hard science.
• Experience in an immersive hands-on technical project (collegiate or professional).
• CAD skills (any platform) and ability to make high-quality engineering drawings.
• Demonstrated hands-on fabrication and assembly skills, including working with hand tools, mill, lathe, etc.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals: heat transfer, statics, solid mechanics, materials.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Highly motivated, self-starting, and able to perform duties autonomously without supervision.
• Very organized and willing to establish scope and requirements for ill-defined problems.
• Passion for defending the United States and her allies.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance.
