Principal Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design efforts for HVAC (and related) systems, producing detailed designs, specifications, and calculations aligned with codes and IMEG standards
- Perform site assessments and develop technical analyses and reports to support design decisions
- Partner directly with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build and maintain client relationships
- Conduct in-process design reviews (design, calculations, specifications, and correspondence) and implement IMEG quality control processes
- Provide technical training and mentoring, and support resolution of field issues with limited support from senior staff
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices; contribute to research, development, and innovation within IMEG
- Prioritize safety in all engineering work by identifying and mitigating potential safety risks associated with mechanical systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (engineers, architects, and project managers) to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
- Participate in project interviews and project presentations
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, required
- Professional Engineer (PE) License required
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
- Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in thermodynamics, psychrometrics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics relating to mechanical design in HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
- Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
- Able to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
- Able to sell work and develop client relationships
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
