Senior Mechanical Engineer - Power (Multiple Locations)
About the role
Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support its Power global practice. The ideal candidate will lead mechanical design project teams for various power generation facilities, including traditional gas generation, renewable generation, and energy storage.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design of projects from concept through design completion.
- Apply expertise in mechanical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures.
- Develop procurement specifications, lists, datasheets, and drawings.
- Review and approve mechanical supplier and contractor documents.
- Prepare and present technical reports and participate in sales and marketing efforts.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and staffing.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and adhere to QA/QC processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with EPC project experience preferred.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) strongly preferred.
- Expertise in mechanical equipment design codes and proficient in relevant software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lead and manage projects, delegate tasks, and resolve issues.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Skills
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and additional software such as AFT Fathom, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Smartplant.

Pay
$145,000.00 - $220,000.00 yearly. The exact amount may vary based on experience and location.
Schedule
Full-time. Some travel may be required.
