Senior Mechanical Engineer (Power Generation / Gas-to-Power)
About the Role
We're hiring a senior mechanical engineer who has delivered power generation and gas-to-power projects at a top EPC, PMC, owner-operator, or equipment OEM. This includes combined cycle, simple cycle and peakers, gas-to-power for data centers and behind-the-meter campuses, LNG, and cogeneration, with the rotating equipment and balance of plant that goes with them. This is a hands-on role where you'll perform real mechanical engineering, quality-check automated outputs, and shape the product's future direction.
Responsibilities
- Perform real mechanical engineering on FEL-2 and early-phase delivery work, owning the parts our software can't handle yet to ensure projects ship.
- Act as the quality gate for Candid's automated mechanical outputs: identify errors before client delivery and provide feedback to improve the product.
- Define how equipment scope is developed and validated through FEED on power and gas-to-power projects, establishing standards for "good."
- Review and validate mechanical content across equipment datasheets, vendor packages, and discipline handoffs.
- Build repeatable checks to catch scope gaps and inconsistencies early in the process.
- Map where mechanical rework occurs, analyze root causes, and identify key inputs driving it.
- Clarify interface points with Process, Piping, I&C, and Electrical disciplines.
- Distinguish between genuinely repetitive tasks and those requiring engineering judgment to guide software automation.
- Help define checks, workflows, and product requirements to enable software to handle repetitive tasks while keeping engineers in control.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience at a large-scale EPC, PMC, owner-operator, or OEM, primarily focused on power generation or gas-to-power projects.
- Direct experience on combined cycle, simple cycle, gas-to-power, LNG, or cogeneration projects (not refining or petrochem only).
- Owned mechanical equipment datasheet development and vendor package review through FEED.
- Strong expertise in rotating and power-plant equipment: gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, pumps, compressors, fans, and balance of plant mechanical systems (cooling systems, fuel gas conditioning, water treatment).
- Hands-on experience with equipment specification to API and ASME standards (API 610, 611, 612, 617; ASME VIII; B31.1 power piping).
- Experience coordinating OEM turbine and major equipment packages (GE Vernova, Siemens Energy, Mitsubishi Power, or similar).
- Ability to quickly spot inconsistencies across datasheets, P&IDs, and vendor packages.
- Clear understanding of cross-discipline dependencies.
- Frustration with big-company processes and a desire for autonomy.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, wearing multiple hats, and a bias toward action over perfection.

- Discipline lead or technical authority experience.
- Work on data center or behind-the-meter power campuses.
- Experience taking equipment from FEED into procurement and detailed engineering.
- Expertise in packaged or modular systems and skid integration.
- Genuine interest in AI and automation.
