About the role
The Mission Critical group at GBA is seeking a highly motivated, experienced mechanical engineer to join their team. This individual will work on new and/or renovation projects from start to finish, focusing on the design of data centers and telecommunications facilities.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Project Architects, Engineers and Construction Managers to provide innovative design solutions to projects during all phases of design
- Interface with clients, owners and contractors
- Design air-side mechanical systems, including DX and chilled water AHU’s, ductwork sizing, and computer room air-handline units
- Design water-side mechanical systems, including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and piping
- Provide HVAC load calculations
- Responsible for project phasing plans including temporary measures to maintain services in our client’s live facilities
- Facilitate facility evaluations, engineering studies, and trouble shooting
- Train, coach and mentor less experienced staff
Requirements
- BS in Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Must be a Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in at least one state
- At least 10 years of related experience with at least 2 years of data center mechanical design experience
Qualifications
- AutoCAD, Revit and BIM360 experience a plus, but not required
- Organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
- Interest in working in a collaborative team environment
- Ability to perform site walks in active facilities, including navigating mechanical rooms, rooftops, ladders, and equipment areas
- Capability to travel between job sites and client facilities as needed
