Senior Mechanical Engineer – Mission Critical

About the role

The Mission Critical group at GBA is seeking a highly motivated, experienced mechanical engineer to join their team. This individual will work on new and/or renovation projects from start to finish, focusing on the design of data centers and telecommunications facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Project Architects, Engineers and Construction Managers to provide innovative design solutions to projects during all phases of design
  • Interface with clients, owners and contractors
  • Design air-side mechanical systems, including DX and chilled water AHU’s, ductwork sizing, and computer room air-handline units
  • Design water-side mechanical systems, including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and piping
  • Provide HVAC load calculations
  • Responsible for project phasing plans including temporary measures to maintain services in our client’s live facilities
  • Facilitate facility evaluations, engineering studies, and trouble shooting
  • Train, coach and mentor less experienced staff

Requirements

  • BS in Architectural Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Must be a Licensed Professional Mechanical Engineer in at least one state
  • At least 10 years of related experience with at least 2 years of data center mechanical design experience

Qualifications

  • AutoCAD, Revit and BIM360 experience a plus, but not required
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Interest in working in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to perform site walks in active facilities, including navigating mechanical rooms, rooftops, ladders, and equipment areas
  • Capability to travel between job sites and client facilities as needed
