About the role
GBA, a full-service architectural and engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Life Sciences group. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-impact projects from concept through completion in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead design of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical utility systems, for complex biopharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing facilities
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to create integrated building solutions that respond to client spatial, functional, and budgetary needs
- Perform design calculations, equipment selections, and review calculations and equipment selections performed by project team members
- Evaluate and assess existing mechanical systems; develop retrofit and upgrade strategies
- Work directly with clients to establish design criteria and develop design concepts that meet project goals and budgetary expectations
- Write technical specifications and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain project quality assurance and coordinate with other disciplines (architecture, electrical, process engineering, fire protection)
- Conduct field reviews, investigations, and support construction and commissioning phases
- Mentor and guide junior engineers; contribute to technical excellence across the team
Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience
- Experience with complex building projects; Life Sciences experience preferred
- Proficiency in REVIT required; AutoCAD experience is a plus
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a technically challenging, team-oriented environment
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Mechanical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience
- Experience with complex building projects; Life Sciences experience preferred
- Proficiency in REVIT required; AutoCAD experience is a plus
