Responsibilities
- Applies strong mechanical engineering skills, experience and knowledge to the design and oversight of the design, for building projects.
- Manages and plans the production resources and workflow to produce the design documentation, drawings, and calculations required for mechanical engineering projects.
- Maintains and expands current knowledge of technologies, trends and the markets in which we work as they apply to the applicable project types and continually strengthens skills.
- Participate in design conflicts resolution and questions and provides recommendations to address issues and add value.
- Handles development of design and document preparation in written and computer-aided design formats and ensures that contract documents are delivered in a timely fashion while meeting required codes and quality assurance standards.
- Reviews drawings and research code issues to comply with national, city, state, and county regulations.
- Compiles energy modeling results and subsequent impacts to the proposed mechanical systems to evaluate by Project Manager.
- Provides construction administration support such as reviewing contractor RFI’s, issuing field directives, performing construction observation and punch lists, reviewing contractor change requests.
- Leads in editing technical specifications for each specific project.
- Performs field investigations and analyzes existing conditions to develop comprehensive engineering solutions.
- Participates in the development of design staff through work on projects as well as serving as a trainer, mentor and resource for junior design staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited curriculum in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 15-years’ experience as a Mechanical HVAC & Plumbing Design Engineer for buildings.
- Licensed Professional Engineer is required.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with, clients, projects, fee, scope, and teams to achieve budget, schedule and deliverable objectives while meeting key stakeholder critical success factors.
- Familiarity with, and ability to produce, project-related documents and documentation standards.
- Experience using BIM software; in particular, Revit MEP.
- Experience using AutoCAD software.
- Experience using Bluebeam software.
- Experience using IES software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with owners, other disciplines involved in the project, contractors, suppliers, etc.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
Skills
- Designing HVAC and plumbing systems for facilities and built environments.
- Integrating design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
- Applying sustainable design principles.

$151,700.00 - $227,600.00 Annually Annually
