About the role

CMTA, a Legence Company, is seeking an experienced Engineer to join the Energy Solutions division. This division is the fastest-growing part of our large and expanding company. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience with an Energy Services company or a consulting engineering/commissioning firm, along with an undergraduate degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university. Strong business development and client relationship management skills are desired, particularly familiarity with state-specific K-12 design-build procurement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce and explain performance contracting to potential clients, identifying opportunities for long-term value.
  • Articulate how CMTA uniquely approaches performance contracting, emphasizing both technical and financial benefits.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to secure repeat business, referrals, and long-term partnerships.
  • Participate in business development activities, including client meetings, industry events, and proposal development.
  • Lead the development phase, including site visits, audits, and energy calculations.
  • Direct the engineering design team in producing drawings and specifications.
  • Manage the bidding process to ensure quality and competitive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the client to finalize the performance contract.
  • Work with the construction manager to ensure a smooth construction period.
  • Direct the commissioning process to validate performance.
  • Support the client through the warranty phase as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Measurement & Verification (M&V) professional to develop the first-year M&V report.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state-specific K-12 design-build procurement processes, ensuring alignment with state and district requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with an Energy Services company OR a consulting engineering/commissioning firm.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
