About the role

CMTA, a Legence Company, is seeking an experienced Engineer to join the Energy Solutions division. This division is the fastest-growing part of our large and expanding company. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, leveraging their technical expertise to lead performance contracts from conception to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce and explain performance contracting to potential clients, identifying opportunities for long-term value.
  • Articulate how CMTA’s approach to performance contracting is unique and valuable in both technical and financial terms.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster repeat business, referrals, and long-term partnerships.
  • Participate in business development efforts including client meetings, industry events, and proposal development.
  • Lead the development phase including site visits, audits, and energy calculations.
  • Direct the engineering design team in producing drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure the bidding process results in quality and competitive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the client to finalize the performance contract.
  • Work with the construction manager to ensure a smooth construction period.
  • Direct the commissioning process to validate performance.
  • Support the client through the warranty phase as needed.
  • Collaborate with the M&V professional to develop the first-year M&V report.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of state-specific K-12 design-build procurement processes, ensuring alignment with state and district requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with an Energy Services company OR a consulting engineering/commissioning firm.
  • Undergrad degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university.

Pay

The base salary range for this position varies by location: Fairfax VA, MA, MD & CA - $115,000 - $150,000; Richmond VA - $100,000 - $130,000. This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus, which is determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and is not guaranteed.
