Senior Mechanical Engineer - Buildings
WSP is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Property & Buildings team in Irvine, CA. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer with experience across commercial, higher education, multi-family residential, and civic projects, looking to grow within a collaborative, design-focused environment.

Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical engineering design and technical delivery across a diverse portfolio including commercial, higher education, multi-family residential, and civic projects
- Support design of HVAC, air distribution, hydronic, and building systems
- Participate in the full project lifecycle, from concept development through construction and close-out
- Analyze and interpret data from site conditions, drawings, and technical documents to support engineering solutions
- Prepare and contribute to technical reports, specifications, and design documentation
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and sector-specific requirements, including healthcare environments
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
- Support client interactions and project meetings, building strong working relationships
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design for building systems
- Experience supporting projects across commercial, higher education, and multi-family residential and civic projects
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and mechanical design principles
- Experience supporting projects from design through construction
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and related engineering tools
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or on track to obtain
- Experience working on complex commercial, higher education, and multi-family residential and civic projects
- Familiarity with California codes and local jurisdiction requirements
- Experience working with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- LEED AP or sustainability credentials

Pay
Expected salary range: $107,500 - $156,600.
