Senior Mechanical Engineer

As a Mechanical Subject Matter Expert, you will play a critical role in shaping the design and execution of advanced facility projects. Working closely with clients, engineers, and project stakeholders, you will lead mechanical design efforts, evaluate system performance, and develop solutions that support operational excellence in highly regulated environments. Responsibilities

• Support other engineers or project managers as needed.
• Research applicable industry standards, prepare engineering studies, and analyze systems.
• Develop preliminary and detailed engineering designs and specifications.
• Review work of the project design team, monitor progress, and alert managers to scope changes or additional services required.
• Coordinate aspects of project document completion.
• Direct CAD designers and engineers in preparing construction drawings.
• Interpret applicable codes and work with code officials for interpretations or exceptions.
• Coordinate project design with other engineering disciplines.
• Perform field surveys to document existing building conditions.
• Conduct cooling and heating load calculations, ventilation calculations (VRP), COMcheck calculations, and energy modeling.
• Perform ductwork and piping pressure drop calculations, layouts, and equipment selections.
• Interpret Building and Fire Codes.
• Provide equipment selections, drawings, and specifications for mechanical equipment (e.g., air devices, terminal units, chillers, boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, valves, insulation, expansion tanks, water heaters, grease interceptors, plumbing fixtures).
• Provide construction administration support for mechanical equipment.
• Develop equipment details and advanced control sequences.
• Determine appropriate system types for projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering; PE License preferred.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of mechanical design experience creating construction documents for a wide range of projects.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting projects within the Pharma/Biotech/Life Science industry.
• Subject Matter Expertise in non-Critical, critical, and GMP critical Mechanical Systems such as HVAC, Clean Utilities, Black Utilities, Pressure Vessels, and Fire Suppression systems.

Skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity or ability to use calculation software such as Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, and COMcheck.
• Revit and/or AutoCAD experience (ability to open drawings, navigate, edit text, and print) is a plus.

Pay

$135,000–175,000 annually (depending on experience). Eligible for overtime pay and an annual profit-sharing bonus (variable).
