About the role

Join RAVE Aerospace in designing and engineering world-class In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) solutions. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will drive mechanical and electromechanical design and systems integration, impacting product innovation, cost, schedule, and feature set. You will retain technical ownership of mechanical designs throughout the design, development, production, and support phases.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product development activities from conceptual development, prototyping, and design validation to manufacturing and product support, both individually and collaboratively.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineers to develop electromechanical and mechanical products.
  • Integrate electronics, mechanical components, and user interfaces, including PCBAs, switches, sensors, buttons, screens, power supplies, wiring, cable management, and system peripherals.
  • Develop hand-held user interfaces with premium tactile and cosmetic quality, meeting industry-leading consumer product standards.
  • Design systems and components using various fabrication techniques for low, mid, and high production volumes.
  • Develop highly reliable systems using industry-standard statistical techniques.
  • Optimize systems for manufacturability, cost, performance, reliability, and component availability.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of issues detected during development, testing, qualification, or field returns.
  • Design assembly and test fixtures as needed.
  • Create advanced component and complex assembly designs.
  • Author mechanical drawings, technical documents, and assembly instructions.
  • Share knowledge and ideas collaboratively with the team and company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience designing LRUs to meet FAA certification requirements such as DO-160.
  • Advanced user of 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks) and PDM.
  • Capable of generating specification drawings with dimensions and tolerances per ASME 14.5Y.
  • Experience implementing tolerance studies and analyses to document and validate part variation and assembly fits and clearances.
  • Experience designing injection molded, sheet metal, die cast, machined, stamped, and die cut parts.
  • Experience with statistical techniques for part fabrication and manufacturing process output control.
  • Experience with electromagnetic regulatory requirements and mitigation of problems found during testing.
  • Experience with thermal management techniques.
  • Proven track record of owning and driving significant portions of complex engineering projects.
  • Proven ability to meet project goals and objectives.
