About the role

The Position Within the Mechanical Engineering department at Roche R&D Near Patient Care, you will help develop blood glucose meters, continuous glucose monitoring systems, and related application systems (e.g., test stands) for series production—all in accordance with relevant standards and regulatory guidelines. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be an integral member of an agile development team, directly contributing to the creation of high-quality, robust medical devices.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to taking innovative products from the initial idea to series production readiness and successfully launching them on the market.
  • Work closely with other colleagues and project teams, including operations and manufacturing, to build the interface between the development and production teams.
  • Collaborate with external partners such as injection molding suppliers.
  • Develop mechanical components and assemblies, perform analyses, create test plans, conduct tests, analyze and interpret test results, and document findings in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of parametric mechanical CAD design and FEM simulation to incorporate changes into product designs.
  • Engage in practical activities and understand technical matters in detail through investigations and testing.
  • Work within agile project methodologies and demonstrate strong communication and influencing skills.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or medical technology (or relevant field of study) with relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing mechanical components and assemblies, including practical activities and understanding technical matters in detail.
  • Knowledge of parametric design (Creo Parametrics, Solid Works) and plastics engineering, ideally in a regulated medical device environment.
  • Knowledge in at least two of the following topics: plastic technology, sterile component design, manufacturing and automated assembly of plastic parts.
  • Ability to work in a team, drive topics independently, and self-motivated.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and influencing skills.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience in the development of mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Demonstrated experience in agile methods and agile project management.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., PhD) in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or medical technology or a related field of study with relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence internal partners and stakeholders.
