In this role, you will lead and demonstrate your experience on unique and challenging medium and large-size industrial projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline, primarily focused on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), but also including industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details associated with mechanical engineering projects.
- Develop conceptual designs and cost estimates for early stages of the project life cycle.
- Create design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software.
- Conduct or participate in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost savings measures.
- Assess and design building ventilation systems based on requirements for heat removal in industrial spaces and maintaining indoor air quality.
- Conduct spreadsheet analysis to assess the energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs).
- Utilize building modeling software to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess savings potentials of ECMs.
- Specify mechanical equipment.
- Design plumbing and building utility piping systems.
- Summarize engineering results in written reports and/or presentations that are cohesive and of the highest quality.
- Visit job sites as required for projects involving upfit of existing systems (expect <10% travel, including day trips and overnight domestic trips).
- Adhere to the policies and standards set forth in Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment by adhering to Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or greater.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems.
- Experience designing large-scale hydronic systems.
- Working knowledge of fire protection requirements for industrial facilities, including the IFC, NFPA standards, and FM Global guidelines.
- Desire to work in chemical, power, and industrial market segments.
- Ability and willingness to work at industrial facilities for data gathering (expect <10% travel).
- Detail-oriented individual with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit is preferred.

Pay
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $115,000 to $140,000 yearly. Actual compensation will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for bonus, overtime, or other forms of compensation, along with a comprehensive benefits package supporting well-being, professional development, and work-life balance.
