About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support the development, integration, and testing of a large commercial derivative aircraft for use by national leadership personnel. Key responsibilities include providing engineering design, integrations, test, and requirements verification for air vehicle subsystems such as propulsion, auxiliary power units, hydraulics, and electrical generating systems. The role also involves supporting FAA and Air Force certification processes, applying MIL-HDBK-516 criteria, conducting systems engineering evaluations, and participating in various program management reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering design, integrations, test, and requirements verification to Air Vehicle Subsystems to include Propulsion, Auxiliary Power Units, Hydraulics, and Electrical Generating Systems.
  • Provide test planning and data analysis.
  • Support sustainment operations planning.
  • Support FAA and Air Force certification processes execution.
  • Review engineering change notices/proposals, contract modifications, and program risks and develop solutions.
  • Support Airworthiness & Compliance process by applying MIL-HDBK-516C criteria, military airworthiness processes, compliance mapping, and System-Subsystem Requirements Analysis development.
  • Apply Systems Engineering processes and conduct trade-off assessments, translate requirements into system specifications, and support design/test activities.
  • Prepare and/or review technical evaluations, engineering studies, acquisition strategies, Request for Proposals, test plans, and Requirement Verification.
  • Support Integrated Product Team by actively participating in project meetings and reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FCA, PCA, PMR, etc.).
  • Provide system/subsystem performance analysis through assessments of cost, life cycle, maintainability, reliability, risk, and scheduling trade-offs.
  • Apply regulatory knowledge of FARs, NPRMs, ADs, and AMOCs for certification and compliance.
  • Conduct trade-off assessments, translate requirements into system specifications, and support design/test activities using Systems Engineering processes.

Requirements

Qualifications include 10 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field; 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in a related field; 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field. Additional desirable skills include experience with commercial derivative aircraft and USAF ACAT 1 programs.
