Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of pressure vessels, piping systems, skids, and packaged equipment for industrial water treatment applications.
- Review and check detailed drawings, general arrangements, P&IDs, fabrication details, and BOMs.
- Select and specify equipment such as pumps, valves, and mechanical components to meet project and process requirements.
- Enter and manage engineering data, parts, and BOMs within the company’s ERP system to support manufacturing and supply chain activities.
- Ensure designs comply with ASME, ANSI, and other relevant codes and standards.
- Perform and/or review engineering calculations to support designs.
- Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and process engineers to ensure integrated system designs.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Review vendor drawings and technical documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Support manufacturing and field service teams during fabrication, assembly, testing, and commissioning.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve technical issues, and support project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Master’s is an asset)
- Minimum of 7+ years of relevant engineering experience
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer
- Knowledge of mechanical design codes and standards including ASME, AWWA, API
- Strong communication skills, capable of presenting technical information to both internal and external stakeholders clearly and concisely
- The ability to be a positive team player in a high paced environment working under tight deadlines
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work independently, set priorities, and meet deadlines
