About the role

This position involves creating complex aerospace parts using CAD software, performing FEA analyses, designing tooling, preparing technical proposals, conducting audits, reverse engineering parts, updating work instructions, and supporting lean processes.

Responsibilities

  • Model complex, lofted aerospace parts in NX and possibly SolidWorks
  • Perform and interpret Finite Element Analyses
  • Design tooling to manufacture, repair, and assemble parts
  • Participate in bid and proposal efforts by providing technical proposal content
  • Participate in AS9100/ISO 9001 audits and provide quality engineering support
  • Reverse engineer parts using a Faro arm, Keyence, and Verisurf software
  • Verify models created using a Faro arm
  • Adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes
  • Document actions by completing logs
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
  • Achieve organization goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Update existing work instructions to comply with updated Quality requirements
  • Work with technicians to improve (lean) processes
  • Read and interpret specifications, drawings, and other technical data to develop manufacturing process
  • Work with Senior Program Managers as Project Engineer aiding in performance of analyses and interpretation of results as required

Requirements

  • Education/Training: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant engineering or science discipline, from an ABET accredited program required
  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in the required task area
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.100 Standard Practices for Engineering Drawings

Qualifications

  • Security Clearance: Must be a US citizen. Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
  • Physical Requirements: Able to occasionally reach with hands and arms, prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk, adhere to safety protocols when in work areas requiring use of PPE (e.g. eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, etc.), able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time

Skills

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (NX, SolidWorks)
  • Experience with FEA analysis tools
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.100 Standard Practices for Engineering Drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
