Responsibilities

  • Leading a small team of engineers performing outfitting and arrangements for a unique undersea vessel
  • Performing layouts and trade studies, including the effects of weight and strength performance calculations
  • Integrating systems and components from COTS and modified COTS hardware to fully custom parts and assemblies
  • Considering real-world Human-Machine Interface (HMI) considerations for system operations in a challenging environment
  • Supporting tasks from concept design through detailed design, prototype fabrication, testing, and production
  • Performing as the Design Lead for small group of individuals designing and building a portion of an undersea vessel
  • Confidently providing technical leadership, oversight, and work output to the Team
  • Establishing and performing to cost and schedule metrics
  • Business and proposal development
  • Seeking opportunities to further develop projects

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, from an ABET-accredited institution
  • 6-15 years of relevant experience, including significant experience on one or more vessels
  • Experience using 3D design tools, including Finite Element Analysis
  • Experience coordinating work planning and status for a small technical team
  • Experience working in Integrated Product Teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to board and traverse boats and ships

Desired Skills

  • Experience using SolidWorks and related tools for design and FEA stress analysis
  • Experience designing components using PEEK or other high-performance thermoplastics
  • Experience leading Integrated Product Teams
  • Strong capabilities using Microsoft Office tools
  • Past shipboard or shipyard / repair facility assignment, as a civilian or in conjunction with US military service

Pay

Salary Range: $52.00 - $75.00

Schedule

Travel: Yes, up to 3 trips a year
