Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering support for Air Force countermeasure and munitions programs, such as the MJU-75/B, MJU-61A/B, and MJU-62A/B, throughout the acquisition, production, testing, and sustainment lifecycle.
- Evaluate and process engineering changes, including Change Notice Engineering Orders (CNEOs), to maintain accurate Technical Data Packages (TDPs), engineering drawings, and configuration documentation.
- Perform mechanical engineering analyses, including dimensional stack-up studies, root cause investigations, reliability assessments, and statistical evaluations to resolve technical issues and improve system performance.
- Prepare and present technical analyses, recommendations, and briefings to Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), Technical Review Boards (TRBs), and other engineering review forums.
- Review test data, First Article Test Reports (FATRs), reliability testing, and production qualification results to support engineering decisions and production readiness.
- Collaborate with Government personnel, contractors, manufacturers, and cross-functional engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues and support program execution.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure engineering efforts remain aligned with cost, schedule, performance, and configuration objectives.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance manufacturing processes, system reliability, and long-term sustainment.
Qualifications/Technical Experience Requirements
- Must be a US citizen.
- Active Secret security clearance required.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program with 20 years of relevant experience; OR a Master's degree with 15 years of relevant experience; OR a Ph.D. with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Must possess advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and their application to the acquisition, development, testing, production, and sustainment of DoD weapon systems and support equipment.
- Experience evaluating engineering changes, Technical Data Packages (TDPs), engineering drawings, Change Notice Engineering Orders (CNEOs), and Requests for Variance (RFVs).
- Experience performing engineering analyses, including root cause investigations, dimensional stack-up analysis, reliability assessments, and manufacturing support.
- Experience supporting Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), Technical Review Boards (TRBs), and preparing technical recommendations and briefings.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical data, and test results to support engineering decisions and production readiness.
- Experience collaborating with Government, contractor, and cross-functional engineering teams in a DoD acquisition or sustainment environment.
