Senior Mechanical Designer

Responsibilities

• Understand customer requirements after project receipt and prepare order-bound drawings and documents, making designs in line with customer specifications.
• Compile relevant documents for identified projects.
• Identify and address deviations or issues in project documents in consultation with the Manager.
• Ensure timely delivery of design specifications and generate requirements in the ERP system.
• Prepare and check layout and customer drawings (internal layout, cleats and leads, outside general arrangement, list of fittings, foundation details, fabrication drawings, etc.) in discussion with the customer for design finalization.
• Perform 3D modeling of transformers with complete fittings and accessories using Pro-E Wildfire.
• Visit customer sites for design approval and clarifications.
• Optimize transformer designs based on tender commitments and technology requirements.
• Prepare manufacturing drawings, including cable wiring, gasket hardware lists, and SAP entries within specified timelines.
• Prepare manufacturing instructions, standard drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate with the Service Cell for erection, commissioning, and other site-related problems.
• Possess knowledge of Indian and International Standards & Codes (DIN, ASME) for ferrous and non-ferrous material specifications, welding and brazing qualifications, and non-destructive testing.

• Participate in and lead design reviews and joint inspections, guiding other functions such as Manufacturing and Quality.
• Engage in technical discussions with customers and address their queries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 12–18 years of industry experience.
• Experience in mechanical design of power transformers.
• Knowledge and exposure to 2-D and 3-D CAD software packages like Creo or similar.
• Proficiency in both spoken and written English.
