Senior Mechanical Designer

About the role

An established multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer to join its growing MEP team. This individual will lead mechanical design efforts across a variety of commercial, healthcare, education, government, and institutional projects while collaborating closely with engineering and design teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical HVAC design from concept through construction documents
• Develop Revit MEP models, plans, specifications, and design documentation
• Perform load calculations and equipment selection
• Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, and structural teams
• Support construction administration activities, including RFIs and submittal reviews
• Identify and resolve design conflicts through proactive coordination
• Mentor junior designers and support quality control efforts

Requirements

• 5+ years of MEP consulting mechanical design experience
• Strong proficiency with Revit MEP
• Experience with HVAC systems, ventilation, hydronics, and building automation systems
• Familiarity with Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, and Navisworks
• Strong understanding of ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA, and applicable building codes
• Ability to independently manage mechanical design scopes
• Strong communication and coordination skills
