About the role
The Raytheon Hardware Mechanical Engineering team leads the mechanical hardware design, development and production of critical defense systems. The HWE Team uses state-of-the-art tools, processes, technology, and Raytheon’s CORE principles. HWE’s capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Design innovative technical solutions to a wide range of complex challenges spanning the entire product lifecycle, including proposal, advanced development, design, cooling, manufacturing, integration, and testing of radars, support equipment and electronics for military programs.
- Perform tolerance analyses to ensure form, fit, and function are as intended by design for the use-application.
- Lead small teams utilizing strong mechanical hardware design experience and knowledge in a fast-paced collaborative environment with ruggedized structures, interconnects, cooling, electronics packaging, tooling and/or array integration.
- Provide support for product integration and efforts in both domestic and international factories and supplier locations to assess requirements compliancy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including other engineering disciplines, operations, supply chain, quality, and external suppliers to resolve technical challenges and develop effective design solutions.
- Independently manage tasks and deliver on schedule, budget, and technical goals.
- Participate in design reviews and conduct trade studies to support informed, sound engineering decisions.
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, contributing to team development and technical growth.
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
- Experience in the creation, review and interpretation of technical documentation utilized in the development or production of hardware or tooling products.
- Experience in mechanical design, advanced design development, manufacturing or tooling processes, or related areas.
- Experience in the development, creation, release, or updates of engineering drawings utilizing a 3D CAD design tool.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanical design ability in a production or advanced development environment.
- Experience in design, fabrication, or integration of Electronics Packaging, design and development of Electronic Systems, including interconnects, power distribution, cooling, RF or tooling products.
- Technical Data Package creation, change notice processing including communication of required functional and performance requirements.
- Experience using CREO CAD design and documentation tools or similar 3D solid modeling software with a configuration and data management environment.
- Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Experience with cost and/or schedule reporting or proposal development.
- Highly detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with Military and/or Commercial Specifications and requirements.
- Willingness to travel (domestic and international).
- Advanced degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace hardware systems design.

Pay
The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD.
Schedule
This is an onsite position and can be located at one of the following Massachusetts locations - Tewksbury, Andover, or Marlborough.
