Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with mechanical design and/or manufacturing, with the ability to interpret and/or apply detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and/or bill of materials.
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including structural analysis, material properties, stress/strain evaluation, and/or engineering calculation methods.
  • Experience with CAD platforms (e.g., Creo, I DEAS, SolidWorks, Catia)
  • Familiarity with model based product definition (MBD) practices to create, validate, and/or manage digital product data.
  • US Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance

Position type: Full-time onsite (this is not a hybrid position)

Spacecraft, Missile, Hypersonic, or Other Advanced Aerospace Platforms

Supports spacecraft, missile, hypersonic, or other advanced aerospace platforms operating in extreme and highly dynamic environments.

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Technical leadership of a multi-site team
  • Planning future activities
  • Briefing leadership on progress and challenges
  • Driving integrated technical solutions to closure
  • Issue resolution and development of solutions to technical problems of varying complexity
  • Development, review, and maintenance of engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support product build and testing activities
  • Generation and release of drawings using CAD software
  • Membership in multiple integrated product teams, reciprocal interaction with other engineers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers
  • Representation of the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards
  • Collaboration with manufacturing personnel to supervise the build and test of the hardware in the production facility located next door to the engineering building

Desired Skills

  • Creo and CAD data management (EPDM) experience
  • Knowledge of composite structure design and fabrication
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation
  • Experience with test methods, planning and execution
  • Experience working with other LM operating units
  • Experience working with suppliers
  • Functions well in a creative, high-tempo, collaborative, cross-functional, dynamic, and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Familiarity with LM Space processes, procedures, and tools (including EPDM/Windchill)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly proficient with Creo Parametric
  • Experience supporting production of missile or spacecraft hardware
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-changing environments, quickly adjusting to evolving requirements, shifting priorities, and dynamic project schedules while maintaining high-quality deliverables
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills; capable of articulating complex technical concepts clearly
  • Proven ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams and external customers, ensuring alignment and successful project outcomes
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time professional engineering experience in a mechanical or aerospace environment
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical field or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
