About the role

A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at HEAPY will lead the design and development of mechanical systems for high-performance buildings. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical engineering, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for sustainable design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for high-performance buildings
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with building codes and standards
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for new projects
  • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation and specifications
  • Perform calculations and simulations to optimize system performance
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Experience with sustainable design principles and green building certifications (LEED, WELL, etc.)
  • Knowledge of energy modeling tools such as EnergyPlus or ESP-r
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS)
  • Understanding of commissioning and testing procedures
