Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Hydrasearch, a proud affiliate of The Dixon Group, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Stevensville, MD. This role is responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of engineered fluid-transfer components and mechanical hardware used in demanding commercial, aerospace, and defense applications. As a hands-on individual contributor, you will lead products through the full lifecycle, from requirements and design through validation, production, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, customers, and suppliers to solve complex engineering challenges, drive technical decisions, and deliver practical, manufacturable solutions. Product-specific industry experience is not required; success in this role is driven by strong engineering judgment, technical leadership, and a passion for solving problems. Responsibilities

• Lead complex product development and engineering projects from requirements through validation, production release and lifecycle support.
• Apply engineering judgment to make technical decisions and develop practical, manufacturable solutions.
• Design and improve mechanical components and assemblies, create 3D CAD models and engineering drawings, apply mechanical design and GD&T principles, support prototyping and testing, and lead design activities from concept through production.
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality and production teams to troubleshoot complex technical issues, resolve product and process challenges, support corrective actions, and improve manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Lead efforts to improve product quality, reliability, manufacturability, cost and production efficiency.
• Analyze field, quality and production information to identify improvement opportunities and manage engineering changes and configuration control.
• Partner with suppliers and internal teams to communicate technical requirements, resolve technical issues, support engineering decisions and maintain effective product lifecycle management.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and drafters, support design reviews, share engineering knowledge and promote sound engineering
