This role owns projects from concept through fabrication, assembly, testing, and final delivery while working closely with engineering, production, and fabrication teams. The position combines advanced SolidWorks design work, hands-on support of manufacturing operations, and technical leadership of junior designers. It offers the opportunity to work on complex, highly customized power distribution and industrial systems in a high-impact, visible role, with potential hybrid flexibility after successful onboarding.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design activities for custom industrial equipment and integrated systems from concept through production.
- Create, update, and review detailed 3D models, large assemblies, weldments, sheet metal components, and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks.
- Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) and associated engineering documentation.
- Support projects through all phases, including design, fabrication, assembly, testing, and implementation.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, fabrication, production, and quality teams to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior designers and engineers.
- Drive design standardization, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in and contribute to formal design reviews and engineering change processes.
- Support customer requirements, field activities, and project-specific technical discussions as needed.
- Work directly with production and fabrication teams to address technical issues and ensure manufacturability.
- Apply GD&T and FEA analysis where appropriate to validate designs and ensure performance and reliability.
- Utilize ERP and related systems to manage BOMs, documentation, and project data.
- Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
- Contribute to the design of power distribution equipment, electrical skids, switchgear, E-Houses, and other industrial systems as needed.
- Ensure that designs are aligned with safety, quality, and operational requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
