About the role

In this role, you will serve as Canon’s subject matter expert and segment lead for the publishing sector, driving tangible business results directly aligned with Canon’s core strategic objectives for the segment: expanding market share, securing equipment placements, accelerating digital adoption, and growing print volumes across our customer base. You will evangelize the transformation from offset to digital book printing, position Canon’s digital portfolio as the premier industry choice, and translate market dynamics into actionable growth strategies. You will play a vital role in elevating, advancing, and growing the broader publishing industry—helping publishers and printers navigate digital transformation, optimize supply chains, and unlock new economic potential.

This position can be based in Boca Raton, FL, Itasca, IL, Norcross, GA, or Melville, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Align all segment initiatives directly with Canon’s strategic goals to drive revenue, accelerate unit placements, expand market share, and increase end-user print volume.
  • Drive digital adoption across the publishing ecosystem by educating printers and publishers on the economic and operational advantages of shifting print runs from offset to digital workflows.
  • Work closely with customers post-placement to champion strategies that maximize their equipment utilization and drive sustainable print volume.
  • Partner closely with sales, product, and business development leadership to ensure segment activities generate qualified leads and measurable sales pipeline growth.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable representative for Canon, sharing the strategic value, efficiency, ROI, and agility of digital book printing with key market players and prospective accounts.
  • Communicate the value of Canon’s comprehensive digital portfolio through industry touchpoints, customer engagements, and relevant market forums to accelerate technology adoption.
  • Participate in panel discussions, webinars, and industry activities to support Canon's voice, advance the digital print narrative, and open doors for commercial opportunities.
  • Serve as a catalyst for industry growth and innovation, championing strategies like print-on-demand, short-run economics, and sustainable publishing models that reduce waste and strengthen the overall ecosystem.
  • Educate and empower stakeholders across the value chain—from publishers to print providers—helping them modernize operations, improve supply chain agility, and expand their market reach.
  • Partner with trade associations, educational institutions, and industry bodies to support initiatives that elevate the value, vitality, and future of printed books in a digital age.
  • Analyze macro industry trends, market dynamics, competitive positioning, and technological shifts within book publishing and printing.
  • Evaluate how industry shifts impact key publishing and printing players, translating these insights into commercial strategies that elevate Canon's market share and volume output.
  • Identify and seize commercial opportunities to penetrate untapped sub-segments, replace competitive installations, and optimize print run efficiency for end users.
  • Provide essential market dynamics feedback to product strategy teams for new products, technologies, and innovations, ensuring Canon commands market share leadership in the publishing and book printing space.
  • Ideate, create, and deploy rich thought-leadership content (e.g., white papers, webinars, articles, and symposiums) tailored to influence buying decisions and promote digital workflow adoption.
  • Position Canon as the premier authority on publishing technology, establishing trust that supports long-term account acquisition, retention, and volume expansion.
  • Actively build, nurture, and maintain strategic relationships with key industry players, commercial printers, publishers, trade associations, and key market influencers.
  • Serve as the main subject matter expert, bringing industry intelligence back to internal product, marketing, and sales teams to sharpen sales enablement tools and market strategies.
  • Concept, design, and execute multi-channel marketing programs and campaigns aimed at increasing awareness of Canon’s digital solutions, driving hardware placement, and promoting end-user print demand.
  • Ensure campaigns are optimized to transition prospects through the sales funnel and support existing customers in capturing higher digital page volumes.
