Job Description

Senior Manufacturing Engineers are needed by IDD Aerospace Corp. (Redmond, Washington) to serve as lead engineers on projects, mentor team members, and ensure project success by managing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). They will support the transition of programs from development to production, assist with new product introductions and process improvements, and utilize lean manufacturing principles to enhance manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and reduce costs.

• Utilize lean manufacturing methodologies to continuously improve products and processes.
• Develop manufacturing Bill of Materials (BOMs), routings, and work instructions for complex and high-value processes.
• Determine and develop fabrication methods, operation sequences, and tooling for part fabrication, component finishing, and assembly.
• Work closely with production and design engineering to implement cost reduction strategies in manufacturing.
• Create assembly guides, procedures, and illustrations for production use.
• Coordinate activities related to evaluating, costing, and disposing of discrepant materials, including product returns from customers, defective purchased items, and in-house fabricated parts not meeting specifications.
• Assist Design Engineering in conducting research, evaluations, and testing of new materials, processes, and product failure analysis.
• Plan and adapt machinery and work centers for optimal utilization and efficient, productive layouts.
• Support production operations in troubleshooting manufacturing issues related to product performance and quality.
• Represent the Engineering Department at the Material Review Board (MRB) to disposition non-conforming material, develop rework/repair procedures, and conduct root cause corrective action analyses.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, with 3 years of experience leading avionics manufacturing in the aerospace industry.
• 3 years of experience in each of the following areas:
• Working with avionics optics
• Manufacturing and testing lighting displays for commercial and military applications using spot photometers, colorimeters, and spectroradiometers
• Working in an AS9100 certified environment
• Performing electronics and mechanical switch production
• Applying customized paint to achieve targeted lighting and cosmetic requirements
• Engaging in time studies, labor variances, and capacity analyses
• Utilizing SolidWorks 3D CAD software
• Leading Green Belt projects, Six Sigma, or Kaizen events
• Working with PLM and ERP programs
• Performing project management including planning, scoping, and delegating projects
• Developing ROI analyses for proposing new industrial test or manufacturing equipment
• Developing Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA/DFMEA)
• Writing manufacturing acceptance tests procedures and reports
• Evaluating performance characteristics through repeatability & reliability studies
• Performing Root Cause Corrective Action analyses
• Working with GD&T and reading engineering drawings

The expected salary range for this position is between $108,243 - $120,000 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
