About the role

Symbotic is seeking a talented Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our External Manufacturing team. This role involves working closely with external manufacturing partners and design teams to contribute to reducing manufacturing defects and warranty costs while increasing reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement advanced manufacturing strategies for robotics and automation systems that improve scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability (DFM) and lead the seamless transfer of new products into production.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis and manufacturing readiness reviews for all new product introductions.
  • Oversee management of tooling and capital investments to support growth.
  • Perform analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and tolerance analysis, to optimize designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, software, controls, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and product success.
  • Identify and troubleshoot design challenges, implement effective solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment and a culture of learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical/electrical design principles and hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to select and integrate components such as motors, sensors, and actuators.
  • Experience with a variety of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, electrical, casting, sheet metal, plastics).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Pioneering passion for robotics, automation, and innovation.

Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial robotics, automation, or material handling is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems is preferred.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) is preferred.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems design.
  • Expertise in mechanical and electrical design principles.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical systems.

Benefits

Up to 25% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.

Pay

The base range for this position in the posted location is $101,000.00 - $138,600.00. The actual salary offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Schedule

Employees are responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed bi-weekly.
