About the role
Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be located at our Beltsville, MD facility. The expected annual salary range for this role is $99,000 - $145,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Support plant leadership in achieving business and financial goals by developing and maintaining robust manufacturing processes and leading the lean transformation across the organization.
- Execute the organization’s strategic plan consistent with federal, state, and local regulations, established industry standards, and customer requirements as well as tooling layout, design & implementation to production, support production team with process improvements & troubleshooting, work with product design on new product tooling & processes, factory layout, and continuous improvement activities (Kaizen events, use of Six Sigma tools, 5S etc.).
- Lead continuous improvement and lean implementation using Eaton Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF) to eliminate waste, reduce process variations and deliver products to customer’s expectations.
- Lead/ facilitate kaizen events including the Value Stream Mapping Events, process improvements, and strategic initiatives in collaboration with the High Performance Work Teams (HPWT).
- Identify and resolves opportunities, gather and analyze information, develop and implement actions plans to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
- Develop and maintain robust, cost efficient manufacturing processes and product structures consistent with lean manufacturing practices.
- Understand shop capacity planning related to equipment, processes, and manning. Must be mindful of process and test capabilities and recognize organizational core competencies.
- Determine Root Cause and Corrective Actions to resolve issues involving discrepant product or material.
- Manage projects and conduct project reviews as needed to ensure successful and timely completion, within budget. Communicate changes and progress status.
- Implement methods and practices to reduce variation. Demonstrate ability to understand source(s) of variation and identify impact of tolerance stacks in assemblies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of two (2) years of Engineering experience in a Manufacturing Environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in CNC programming for milling and turning.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in a manufacturing environment implementing Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles.
- Minimum of two (4) years of experience in CNC programming for milling and turning.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience with Pro/E, Catia, and Microsoft.
- Minimum of one (1) year Project Management experience.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Ability to prioritize and make decisions considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
